Apologises

I apologise for the complete lack of updates recently. It's been absolutely non stop, there has been a weekend away with the boyfriend, a rendezvous with Katie Price aka Jordan (well sort of) and a wedding, with one more wedding to go this Saturday.

This small update was just to let you all know I haven't forgotten about my blog and will do a proper update soon...with all the pictures of recent events.

In the meantime, check out my best friend Nicola, she's just started blogging on here, so go welcome her.

Lots of love,

All About Beauty Tag

I saw this on the lovely Victoria's blog and wanted to do it, so as she tagged everyone, I thought I would...
  • What is your favourite makeup look? I'm a big fan of the smoky eye, I use neutrals to create it, colours like MAC's Dazzlelight, Retrospeck, with colours like Mulch, Twinks in the crease, lots of mascara and eyeliner in the waterline. I use a light foundation, contour with bronzer and use a little blush on the apples of my cheeks. And nude lips to finish the look.
  • What part of your body do you love? Tough question, what girl will openly admit that they love a part of their body?! I guess I'd have to say my eyes, they are a lovely green colour.
  • Who is your beauty icon? Of the past, it has to be Audrey Hepburn. It's almost cliched to love her, but almost impossible not to. Her signature look was just classicly beautiful. Present day though, I'm a big Lauren Conrad fan, I love her look. It's so girly and gentle. All the girls from the Hills have a great look, I envy them all, and their handbags!
  • What beauty products instantly make you feel sexy? With out a doubt, fake nails. I bite my nails, and when I don't have falsey's on I feel so unfeminine it's unreal! As soon as I get them on it's like a different person's hand. Then of course, there's fake tan and on the odd occasion false eyelashes, I sound so fake!
  • How do you look after your skin? God, I'm actually really lazy, I'd love to be able to drink 2 litres of water a day, but I just can't do it.
  • What is your signature scent? Marc Jacobs Daisy <3333
  • What are your hair secrets? TIGI Bed Head in Brunette Goddess is the shit! It smells like toffee. I make sure I thoroughly condition my hair as it can be dry because of the colouring, and always try to use a heat defense spray before drying and styling. At the moment I'm using Alberto V05 heat protect styling spray that I was given when I was working at Reveal Magazine.
  • How do you pamper yourself? If I have a day off and I'm going out that evening, I'll do little things to pamper myself all day, I'll start off with a long bath, then do my nails, and paint my toenails, spend ages on my hair and fake tan, and then lastly do my make up. I feel rubbish when I go out when I've only had an hour or so to get ready.
  • What is your pet peeve? Bra straps with boobtube's NO NO NO! Why?! Hair extensions that don't match the hair colour and don't blend in. Girls that don't blend their foundation into their jaw line and neck, argh! Sort it out!
  • Finally, do you have a beauty philosophy? Just do what comes naturally, don't be afraid to try things out, and use make up as a form of expression!
I tag anyone who wants to join in the tag!

Clothing & Accessories Haul

Hi All,

I just popped into Putney with my Mum, I've been trying to track down a grey blazer from River Island that I've wanted for a while now, but they have never seemed to have it in any small sizes, I desperately want it in a 10 and can't find it anywhere. Even the website is sold out now. GRR! So surprise, surprise Putney only had one in stock in a 16, so I got Customer Services number and will be calling them to see if they can track it down for me.So of course, so it wasn't a completely wasted trip Mum and I did some shopping.

L-R: Peach sequin top, Topshop, Red oversized vest, River Island Sale, Pink oversized vest, Topshop, Pink hoodie, River Island Sale

The back of the peach top is gorgeous! It's a very low scoop back, with sequins across the back. LOVE it!

Bow necklace to match the earrings I have, pearl and gold studs and cream rose studs, which I already have, but one of them broke, all from Accessorize and cocktail ring is from Topshop I have this in black and I love it. They didn't have any smalls, but I liked it so much I got it in a medium.

Pumps from River Island

Clutch, River Island. I've wanted this for ages. It's beautiful, but I never really wear pink, so I could never justify spending £25, but I spotted it on the sale rack for £12 so I had to get it :)

Very happy with my purchases :)

Interntional Swap

Hi guys,

Sorry there were no other blogs from me last week, I was pretty busy with work, and it was also my boyfriends birthday this weekend, so I was preparing for that ect ect. Any, I thought I'd update to say that my international swap with Whitney from Whitz World of Makeup arrived. Excitement! It was my first ever swap since entering the blogging community a month or so ago. Whitney is from the States, and I'm from London, so we exchanged things that each of us can't really get where we live. So I sent Whitney some GOSH, Barry M and Natural Collection bits, while I recieved:

  • Two Milani eyeshadows in 03 Bronze Doll and 04 Coffee Shop - so pigmented, I used these for the first time today and the results were very bold.
  • Two NYX jumbo eyeshadow pencils in 612 Gold & 617 Iced Mocha.
  • Two lipsticks a MAC Fafi in Utterly Frivolous a gorgeous coraly pink and a Victoria Secret in VIP an icy pink with gold shimmer.
  • NYX Sheer Gloss in Barbie.
  • MAC tinted lip conditioner SPF 15.
  • A gorgeous sparkly pink pigment.
  • DR. Pepper Cherry Chocolate lip balm.
  • Cosmedicine multi-tasking moisturiser.
  • Samples.

So massive thank you to Whitney, hope you liked yours, I look forward to swapping in the future.

Jumping on the bandwagon

Hi ladies,

I'm excited to say that the postman bought me a parcel today, a bottle if St. Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mousse. Yes I realise I am a little late with this one (as usual), but they don't have it in my TK Maxx or TJ Hughes and I don't have a Home Bargains near me. Nightmare! So I had to turn to good old ebay. I found a new seller on ebay, selling them at a starting price of £4.50 (which is what I paid) and £1.75 postage, so not bad. Obviously you're paying slightly more than you would in one of the stores, as they retail for £2.99 but it's better than some of the prices I've seen on ebay or Amazon (they are sold out on Amazon by the way). The seller's link is here

I can't wait to test this out, I've heard amazing things about it thanks to you ladies. And I'm looking pretty pale at the moment, yes it's official, any colour I had from Egypt is long gone :( I opened up the bottle and had a whiff, and it actually smells really nice! I'm expecting that biscuit smell the next morning though, afterall what fake tan doesn't smell?

I recently tested out the St. Tropez Everyday, which seemed okay when first applied, and gave me a decent glow, but I started to go patchy after about 5 days and with other tanners it's usually at least a week in my experience. And when I say patchy, it was really bad. I looked like I had scales on my legs!

The St. Moriz says to apply and then re-apply in 5 to 7 days for a mid tan or re-apply in 3 to 5 days for a dark tan. I need to be tanned for this weekend as it's my boyfriends birthday and we're having a big night out in the West End on Saturday night, so I'm thinking I'll do the tan tomorrow night (Thursday), see how it turns out on Friday, and that gives me a day to add more if need be?

Any of you that have used this product...how many days did you find it lasted before fading or going patchy?

Help me decide!

Hi everyone,

As I said in a few earlier posts I bought a Lipsy dress to wear out on my birthday, but then I found out that they did a blue version and I wanted it...

Well my lovely Mummy surprised me yesterday and went out and bought me the blue version too, so I now have to decide which one I like the best...although in an ideal world I might just keep them both!

Helpppppp!

Honest Scrap Tag

I was tagged by Greta to do the "Honest Scrap" tag.

You have to tell your readers ten things about you they may not know, but that are true. Then you have to tag ten people with the award. Finally, let all the people you've given the award know they've gotten it (comment their blogs or something). Don't forget to link back to the person who awarded you.

  1. Up until about 4/5 years ago I wanted to be a graphic designer, I studied Multimedia Design at college, and it was only in my final year that I decided to change direction slightly on to Fashion, I went on to do Fashion Journalism at University, of which I graduated last year.
  2. My main goal in life is to become a freelance fashion stylist, I'd love to be stylist to the stars, now that would be amazing.
  3. I am a total impulse buyer, I have so many items in my wardrobe that still have tags on. If I see something I remotely like, I get it, I don't ever think about it, I just do it. I'm terrible.
  4. My favourite flowers are lilys.
  5. I have a phobia (if you can call it that) about drinking from a can. I once read a story about someone that had been poisoned from drinking out of a drinks can because it was covered in rat urine. Ewwww. Ever since then I just can't bring myself to drink out of a can. If I really have to then I have to rinse the can under the tap, or wipe it off first. I'm really weird about it.
  6. I am a perfectionist, I hate things being moved around in my bedroom, everywhere has a set place, and even if a photo frame is moved out of place I get frustrated. I'm beginning to think I have slight OCD or at least sound like I do...
  7. I came out of a 5 year relationship at the start of this year, nothing bad happened, we just drifted apart. It was a mutual break up, and yes it was sad, but unfortunately these things happen. Since then I've met someone else, Jack, and I couldn't be happier, things are going really well with us and I hope it stays that way.
  8. I own near enough 200 pairs of shoes!
  9. I have been driving for 4 years and have had two cars in that time, my first car was a VW Polo, it was red and her name was Polly Polo, as named by my best friend, Nicola. Then last May I got my current car, my GORGEOUS Mini Cooper, it's black and her name is Molly, also named by Nicola. Can you see the pattern there?!
  10. And finally, I want to have surgery, I hate my nose and have a mole on my face that I am determined to get removed one day, just need to get saving! I'm really paranoid about them both and wish I could change them.

Freebies Alert!

I jumped on the Elle magazine bandwagon this month as well as some of the other ladies in order to get the free Paul and Joe Sister top. It comes in 4 colours, and I decided to get the electric blue one, I know it also comes in grey and pink, but am not sure of the fourth colour.

While picking up Elle magazine I noticed that Tatler were giving away free sunglasses, and anyone who knows me knows I have a slight obsession with big sunglasses.

These glasses came in three colours, black, dusky pink/lilac and tortoise shell. I got the tortoise shell as I already have my huge black ones.

So yay for freebies :)

Feeling blue

I think I want the blue dress!

(as well).

Dresses to Impress

Is it terrible that I buy things two and a half months in advance? Sometimes longer actually, for instance, I got my graduation dress 6 months in advance. I'm a great believer that when you see something you like you should just buy it. I realise this may be seen as impulsive, but there have been so many times when I've got home, thought about it, decided I want it, gone back and it's gone, never to be seen again. So impulsive, yes. Happy, yes.

Today my lovely mum bought me my birthday dress. (My birthday is September, by the way). We were shopping with the intent to get Jack's birthday present in House of Fraser and walked past the Lipsy section and this dress grabbed my eye.

Image taken from the Lipsy website

As soon as I saw it Mum mentioned that I could wear it on my birthday and the idea then became fixed in my head. I tried it on, and it looked gorgeous! It's so unusual, I love it, so we got it. I had a feeling it came in a coral colour (a copy of the dress Cheryl Cole wore on an episode of X Factor), and since I've been home, I checked the website, and it's actually pink. It's lovely as well and the stones are all different shades of pink, but a pink dress? I'm not sure. I don't want to look like Barbie's brunette sister. I made the mistake of wearing a bright pink dress a year ago on my best friends 21st, only difference is I was blonde then! It also comes in blue which is really nice too.

What do you guys think? Did I make the right decision, or do you prefer the pink? Or the blue? Saying that the cream is more classic, so I can get better use out of it, right? I'm seriously trying to convince myself now, can you tell?

Anyway, the pink wouldn't go with the shoes I got. Naturally, I had to buy shoes to go with it, so I got these babies! <3

While we're on the subject of dresses, the one I bought on Monday night arrived today.

I got it for Jack's birthday. It's by Motel and I got it from ASOS, it was £35 which is a bargain for a dress. I love Motel dresses, but this is my first one :)

Today I also got a dress in French Connection and a white oversized drop arm vest and some loungewear from Pineapple.

To update on the St. Tropez Everyday - it seems to be going ok so far, but I'm going to do a proper update in a few days, or when it starts to fade to see if it leaves the usual patchy mess I get from a fake tan.

A little bit of everything

Hi everyone,

I realise that I said I'd post up this haul last week, but it's been mega busy here, I went back to work, had my holiday washing to do, not to mention sorting out my house, because my brother had been left alone for a week and it was a state! Boys really can't look after themselves, can they? And on top of that, I had a job interview with a modelling agency, for a position of a shoot coordinator, basically running all the photoshoots that they do, they want me to start training on Saturday, so we'll see how it goes.

Anyway, on to the main purpose of this post, the haul. When I got back from Egypt, I had some of my spending money left over, so straight away I got online and bought myself some make up (I had to make up for not getting any in duty free, didn't I?!)

I discovered a discount make up website, (here) so I got a few things off there first.

Too Faced duo eyeshadows

L-R: Ooh & Aah, Lovey Dovey & George & Weezie

I was really pleased with these eyeshadows, the pigmentation is gorgeous, and they only cost me £2.92 each!

Ooh & Aah:

Lovey Dovey:

George & Weezie:

I also bought three lipsticks, two were from the magic make up site, a brand I've never heard of, W7, but they were only cheap, so I thought I'd give them a try and the last one was Barry M.

L-R: W7 Lollipop, W7 Coconut Ice & Barry M's 147 Peachy Pink

Top to bottom: Lollipop, Coconut Ice & Peachy Pink

Lollipop is a peachy pink colour with flecks of silver sparkles in it, Coconut Ice is a soft frosty pale pink and Peachy Pink by Barry M is, well a peachy pink. It's a bit too bright for me, but I usually wear it on top of the 101 or Gosh Darling, and it looks lovely then.

I've been going a bit mad on nail varnish lately, the sun is shining, which means I can have some fun with my toes...

L-R: Black, Shocking Pink, Coral, Orchid, Limited edition pink (got this free using lollipop26's free nail varnish code on the website), Bright Purple & Marine Blue (this was a clearance nail varnish and it only cost me £1.50)

That was everything I got last week, and I've been shopping twice since! Ooops. I went on Sunday with my best friend Nicola and my boyfriend Jack. I got three dresses, and was feeling a bit guilty, but then it turns out I didn't like one, so that's got to go back, and one didn't fit, so my Mum bought it off me. So now I don't feel so bad, because the one I kept was from Oasis and only £20, it's just a basic blue tunic dress for the summer.

Then this morning, I dropped Jack to work, and wanted to have a look in TK Max, but it didn't open for half an hour, so I wasted some time in New Look, I was sooo close to buying the pink jelly gladiators. I had them in my hand the whole time. Jack absolutely hates them and would have killed me. I tried one on and thought it looked cute, but a bit bulky, I have really thin feet and am inbetween a 5 and 6, so when I tried the other one on too, they just looked too big on my feet, so I put them back, sigh.

I ended up getting this gorgeous oversized tunic:

And these blue suede shoes:

I have been looking for blue shoes for a while now to go with a dress that I haven't worn yet which has blue flowers on it, so was pretty happy when I saw these. Finally when TK Max opened I popped in there, I wanted to look for some nice storage boxes, but spotted some St. Tropez Everyday so got that instead!

I got both the daily body moisturiser, which was £7.99 for 200ml, and the daily face moisturiser which cost £3.99 for 50ml. The packaging states that "EVERYDAY is an advanced high performance body moisturiser which gradually builds a light tan. It's created by St. Tropez, the tanning experts you trust to get it right".

I've only used St. Tropez when I've gone to the salon to have it applied for me, so thought I'd give the everyday tanner a go before splashing out on the expensive ones. Has anyone ever used this stuff? It has a slight smell to it, but it's nothing unpleasant, so I'm hoping the smell won't be too bad when applied. I'm going to apply some today, so I'll keep you posted on how it goes. For now, I'm off, still got lots of sorting out in my room to do, holiday backlog :(
